Reasons for considering a breast enlargement with uplifting

  • Enhance body shape if breasts are low volume and require uplifting
  • Increase breast volume and uplifting after pregnancy or significant weight loss
  • Equalize a difference in breast size (cup size) and volume to gain breast symmetry

General Procedure

Breast augmentation with mastopexy (enlargement with uplifting) involves making an incision on the chest wall through which a breast implant is inserted behind the breast tissue or behind the muscle on which the breast sits, in order to enlarge the volume. Following this volume enhancement, the uplifting part of the procedure may result in a scar around the areola (the coloured part of the nipple), the lollypop scar technique with an additional vertical scar running downwards from below the areola to the breast fold or an anchor shape scar technique where the transverse scar sits along the length of the breast fold itself. The exit technique would depend upon your pre-operative shape and form and the degree of lift required.

The surgery takes around 2 to 3 hours dependent upon technique and is commonly performed as an inpatient procedure with an overnight stay to help ensure you are well and comfortable after your surgery and anaesthetic.

The Recovery Process

Generally, post-operative instructions call for plenty of rest and limited movement in order to speed up the healing process and recovery time. Dressings are applied immediately at the time of surgery as well as a supportive bra which will need to be worn for several weeks. Patients sometimes report minor pain associated with the surgery. This pain can be treated effectively with oral medication. While complications are rare, patients can minimise potential problems by carefully following the directions given after surgery.

Breast augmentation with mastopexy is of tremendous benefit to those patients who desire a fuller profile with uplifting, who have lost breast volume due to pregnancy, weight loss or the natural passage of time and wish to gain a more natural look again.
